In ancient Rome, there was a priest named Saint Valentine. He lived in a time when the emperor had banned soldiers from getting married, believing that single men made better warriors than those with families. However, Valentine firmly believed that love and marriage were sacred, so he secretly performed wedding ceremonies for lovers who wished to be together.
When his actions were discovered, Valentine was imprisoned and later executed on February 14, 269 AD. Legend has it that before his execution, he wrote a letter to the jailer’s daughter, signing it with the now-famous phrase: "From Your Valentine" 💌💖.
From then on, February 14 became a day symbolizing love and romance, celebrated with flowers, poetry, chocolates, and gifts as a way to express affection to loved ones.
